Attention all 2017-18 first year atom families,

As most of you are aware BC hockey has mandated cross-ice hockey for all divisions below Atom. In order to prepare the first year Atoms for the transition from cross-ice to full-ice games, CRMHA is offering at no charge an extra 3 ice sessions.

The goal of the Atom Transitional Plan (ATP) is to ensure that players entering their first year of Atom are equipped with the skills and knowledge to adapt to a full ice surface. We will be working on these four skill as well as some full ice controlled scrimmages. BC Hockey has put together some practice plans to insure that we give the kids the tools needed to have smooth transition.

Stoppage/Start of Play – Foundations of Full Ice Gameplay
Spatial Awareness – Defensive and Offensive Zone Concepts
Rule Adjustment – Offside and Icing
Maintaining Game Flow – Changing on the Fly

The ice times are:
September 5 6:00-7:30 AM Rink 2
September 5 5:15-6:45 PM Rink 2
September 6 5:15-6:45 PM Rink 2

  • Note there are two sessions on the first day.

Although not mandatory I hope most of you will take advantage of this program. Again you must be born 2008

Hello Atom Parents! (‘07 & ’08 players)
We would like to invite you to register for Atom Development Tryouts which will begin after Labour Day weekend.
WHAT IS ATOM DEVELOPMENT?
Atom Development is basically a Rep program where you play for the Campbell River Tyees in a Vancouver Island League against teams from other associations.
In Atom House you typically practice once per week and play one game on the weekend against another CR house team. In Atom Development you practice twice per week and play one or two games per weekend against teams from other associations. Approximately half of the games will be at home in Campbell River.
Our goal is to have both an Atom A and an Atom B team. This will depend on the number of players registered for Atom Development tryouts. Atom A and Atom B will follow the same program but play in different divisions in Island league and tournaments.
The divisions they play in will be determined during a tiering round (balancing) to determine where teams fit in terms of ability so that they will play against similar teams throughout the season.
HOW DO TRYOUTS WORK?
During Tryouts players and goalies will be evaluated by independent evaluators assessing various skills such as skating and passing etc. in drills and in scrimmage games.
Players will be selected to an Atom Development team based on their performance in these tryouts.
WHERE DO WE SIGN UP?
If this interests you please sign up for Atom Development (REP) Tryouts. When you register online, click the box for rep tryouts. If you’ve already registered and would now like for your player to tryout or if you need any assistance with registration please contact Tamara at campbellriverminorhockey@telus.net
